Kingman is blessed with having a transportation infrastructure (interstate, rail, air) and destination status (US Route 66) to accommodate a reasonably low taxing structure. The challenge is to sufficiently leverage these assets to generate revenues to finance city operations. Dependency on sales tax revenue has some major built in dangers:
1: Economic conditions (recession),
2: Availability of customer needs (leakage)
3: Buyer habits (online).
To realistically sustain and improve the quality of life for Kingman residents within a sales tax revenue structure, Economic Development emphasis on bringing jobs and targeted retail opportunities must be significantly increased. Market Kingman. Market Kingman as a destination, as an opportunity for investment and as a great place to live.
