I have lived in several communities that have seen a substantial number of their youth move away because of a lack of opportunity in their community. Some of the better initiatives to offset this that I have personally seen are Joint Technical Education Development Schools, Continuing Technical Education programs and the relatively new Youth Advisory Commissions. We have all of these in Kingman. The Youth Advisory Commission has been established particularly for the high school age youth. Home schooled youth are also encouraged to join. This year, our Commission went to the AZ League of Cities and Towns Convention in Scottsdale and participated in a special youth forum. We have several openings and encourage you to check out the program, and hopefully apply. Become involved! Pass the word to your friends and parents. Together we can help make new opportunities happen!
