The Kingman City Council reviewed summary cost and qualifications of three Legal Firms to review the Kingman-Kingman Airport Authority lease for potential legal challenges to the existing contract. Whereas the current contract has proven to be one-sided, there has to be a legal basis for modification or termination. During the meeting Council member Elect Travis Lingenfelter suggested the City contact the current Arizona Attorney General to perform the legal review.
As a general rule, the Arizona Attorney General has not gotten involved in local issues. As a Council, we voted unanimously to formally request the Arizona Attorney General Office look into this matter. The Council understands this action will probably add significant time to resolving the question of legal basis, but this was a reasonable request, but one that could have been made much earlier.
